How to Read GPS and Calculate Latitude Longitude Coordinate
The coordinates of the earth’s location are divided into 3 formats, the coordinates in Google Maps are different from those in the GPS (Global Positioning System) coordinates. However, on some GPS has listed all three types of coordinates. The following are the three coordinate types:

• Degrees, minutes and seconds (D°M’S”)
These coordinates are most commonly used for GPS with accuracy. Examples of coordinates of the earth’s location with D°M’S” : 7°48’10.2″S 110°22’26.9″E
• Degrees and decimal,minutes(DMM)
Degrees, minutes, decimals. Most commonly used in electronic devices. Example: 41 24.2028, 2 10.441. The 41 number for example is the degree, and the number after 41 is the number of the division 60 of the decimal coordinate.
• Degress decimal (DD°): -7.802845, 110.374136
Derajat. Digunakanuntukkoordinatkomputer. Paling sederhanadenganmemasukan 2 angkakoordinatdecima-7.802845, 110.374136.
Example of coordinate calculation D°M’S” (GPS) kekordinat DD°
If on the GPS screen listed: 7 ° 48’10.2 “S, 110 ° 22’26.9” E, meaning :
S (South / South latitude / Latitude) : 7 degress 48 minutes 10.2 second
E (Longitude) : 110 degress 22 minutes 26.9 second.

Rumus :
Decimal coordinates = degrees + (min / 60) + (sec / 3600) then
S = 7 + (48/60) + (10.2/3600) = 7.8028333
E =110 + (22/60) + (26.9/3600) = 110.374138

Do not forget to add a minus (-) to the latitude coordinate for the location to the south of the equator line (because it says S or South or South Latitude). Thus, the decimal coordinates obtained are:

Latitude (Lintang) : -7.8028333
Longitude (Bujur) : 110.374138
